About this site:
The Digital Frame is a personal website that gives me a chance
to share some of my photographs with others wandering around on the internet.
I’ve always been interested in photography, so much so that I had my own darkroom
at one time, spending many hours there. But
as life became more complex I had less and less time to devote my passion, and
sadly had to let it go. Now with digital equipment and methods my interest has
been re-awakened. I can have even more creative control over my images than
before, and I don’t even have to get my hands wet! I’m still learning and a
long ways off from considering myself an “artist”, but I’m hoping that through
sharing on websites like this and those listed in the “links” section, we can
all learn a little more about what we’re doing.
About my equipment:
I’ve completely switched over to the digital formats. Most of
the images posted on this site were taken with a Canon 300D. I’m really wanting
the new Canon 20D or should I dream the 5D, but that’ll have to wait awhile.
Here are the details:
·
Canon
300D (Digital Rebel) – I really like the color and noise characteristics of
this camera
·
Canon
17-55 mm EFS zoom lens (the kit lens – really hard to get a sharp image with
this one)
·
Canon
50 mm 1.8 prime lens (much sharper)
·
Sigma
70-300 mm F4-5.6 APO zoom (some problems focusing on moving objects, but
overall a good lens)
·
Vivitar 283 flash unit (usually sync’d via a
light sensing flash trigger)
·
Various
filters (UV, Polarizer)
Most images were processed to some extent with Adobe’s Photoshop
Elements 2, which is the more consumer oriented version. I usually sharpen with
unsharp mask, and quite often use levels and or
brightness/contrast to bring out the tonal range and balance color. I’m still
learning a lot about this program.
